For this reason, sustainability is an integral part of our own business activities and a response to our most important global and corporate challenges. For us, this means recognizing opportunities and risks for sustainable development and ensuring our business success and acting proactively accordingly. We consciously address the expectations placed on us by our customers, politicians and society and provide concrete answers. For us, it is central to always put people first.
In doing so, we are guided by the world’s most important and largest CR initiative: the UN Global Compact. Our actions are also guided by the ten globally recognized principles on human rights, labor standards, environmental protection and anti-corruption. Our Code of Conduct offers support in this regard.
It sets out internal, binding guidelines on how we live up to our social responsibility. We also promote this attitude in our supply chain. Based on our principles, we have developed a Code of Conduct for the Supply Chain that we make the foundation of our business relationships.
The following fields of action, which relate to our entire value chain, form the framework of our sustainability strategy. This focus starts where we have the greatest leverage for implementing the Sustainable Development Goals.
That is why we are strengthening our competitiveness with new solutions along the entire value chain that make sustainable development possible in the first place. These product and process innovations lead, for example, to a more efficient use of resources, optimized energy consumption and the use of renewable energy sources. The use of technical solutions for separating climate-damaging products and storing or reusing them can make an important contribution to sustainable development.
However, the prerequisite is that everyone in the company pulls together. Therefore, the development and empowerment of employees is a crucial key to the success of our sustainability strategy.
